South London: A peaceful retreat

Away from the sights, sounds and massive congestion of central London there are actually some rather peaceful areas of our great capital. In fact, south of river is a growing destination for people looking to come and visit London. Firstly it is much cheaper to stay south of the river than to the north, but also the secret is starting to get out. Away from the large tourist attractions on the north bank, South London actually has a lot to offer.
The nooks and crannies, the secret markets, the large commons and open areas. South London isn’t like anything like that central area. It feels more sub-urban in parts; it’s a slower pace of life (though still much faster than the rest of the country) and isn’t dominated by tube stations and rush hour queues.
